Do you own any artwork?

There's an original Rolf Harris painting on eBay for £2.20, which I'm considering bidding on while everyone else is put off BT him being a filthy noncecase.

Look at this on eBay:

Some of these aren't half bad.

Probably because of covid this is the first time she's picked up a pen in years, she just needs to avoid the childish and cartoony animal pics, and focus on the landscapes and the more abstract stuff like the giraffe and cow in these ones: >>5594

The price for the better ones is fine as long as those frames are included.
Anyway at the end of the day art is worth what people will pay for it, I'd rather have one of these on display in my house than the tacky mass-produced prints they sell in shops like the Range for twice the price.

Are there any present art schools or movements that sincerely make things in the same vein as the Classical/Renaissance/Romantic artists?

Looking especially for sculpture, but anything is welcome.

Pictured The Abyss by Pietro Canonica (1909).

I'm not entirely sure what "bungie" means in this context, but if plain-looking teenage women and chiaroscuro rings your bell, you want IFeelMyself.

If 17th century costume is what really gets you going, then I think you're mostly shit out of luck. I could probably dig out some old 8mm loops if you're desperate. Heck, you might appreciate the vintage Danish aesthetic in general - Ektachrome had something of a painterly quality.

Which is a surprise to absolutely no-one. Bumders can appreciate the female form as much as a married bloke on the cusp of retirement with erectile dysfunction and leathery skin can admit that Robert Redford in his heyday was a pussy magnet.

I need to do some reproductions of some religious artwork for someone, but all they have is poor quality home inkjet printer versions, they'll look rubbish when I blow them up.

Does anyone have any clue who painted these images and perhaps where I might be able to find some hi-res copies? I'm really struggling.

As far as I can tell, the first one at least was produced for Fratelli Bonella which is a publisher of religious art based in Milan. They could also just be one of the thousands of people selling shitty prints.
I had quite a thorough look for it and all I've learned is that Catholics do not give a fuck about crediting their artists. Maybe it's idolatry.
In your shoes I'd just look for the highest resolution images I can on google (or take some better photos of the ones you have), blow them up in photoshop, apply some filters to make them look roughly like they were painted at that resolution then get them printed somewhere decent.

I think the Mona Lisa is over hyped. Don't get me wrong it is fine, but a portrait of a woman with unnaturally smooth skin and body shape and flat hair has always seemed unremarkable to me outside of historical context, even compared to painters of a relatively similar period.

I'd much rather comission a copy of Vigo the Carpathian myself.

5552 Looking for a video
I recall seeing a video maybe 8-10 years ago which this sculpture reminded me of. Does this bring anything to mind?

I think I might have found it on here, spent 20 minutes googling and youtubing but haven't got a clue.

It's like a 5~ minute video of a dilapidated factory, shots lasting maybe 30 seconds-1 min, set on top of some ambient industrial music.

It consists of figures like the one inset, kind of warped and dissociative imagery with these figures spasming and disintegrating. They're all CGI, I think.

It might be part of the same video, the other image I have is of these figures falling sideways into some sort of cube or surface and disintegrating. Possibly representing God, I'm not quite sure.

This was from before I'd tried acid.

You get the impulse to create art at unexpected times during the day. Follow that urge, then you store away that little nugget of creation into your palette. You can then recall these little nuggets when you need them. You won't ever have a 'complete' palette of what you think you need, but you don't need to have one; people enjoy the unique combination of artistic insight that your work will bring.

5505 DIY film scanning
Sup lads,

Anyone scan their own film? I get my 120 developed at Jessops because of their student discount, but their scans are absolutely atrocious.

Anyone have any preferred methods of DIY film scanning? I have a Digital SLR and extension tubes, but it's just lighting and keeping the film flat.

Picture is one of their scans, and I'll attach a scan I tried with my phone as the backlight just for comparison.

Thanks lad. I was thinking of building my own light table, but you can get them for a tenner off ebay anyway, so that's tempting. I will think about the macro lens but I already have a set of extension tubes and there seems to be a decent amount of resolution with my 50mm at f/8, and I suppose I could go even closer and stitch them together.

With regards to film developing, I don't really have access to a dark enough room.

You need a darkroom for making prints, but you don't need one to develop film. All the developing happens inside an opaque plastic cylinder. To load the film into the developing cylinder, you use a changing bag - an opaque black cloth bag with two elasticated holes for your hands. There's a bit of a knack to it, but it's not nearly as difficult as you might imagine. A film changing bag costs about £15 and is handy for all sorts of other tasks.
